SCENER FRA ET ÆGTESKAB (Ingmar Bergman)
AARHUS TEATER 2011
(Set design, costume design, video design.)

We did Bergman’s "Scenes from a marriage" in Aarhus Teater´s stage Scala.
During the script the couple Johan and Marianne are at home, in the office and in their holiday home.
I was very inspired of the Nordic modernism in the architecture at the time the play is written: Everything is covered with wood – at the same time beautiful and quite claustrophobic.
I liked the idea that no matter where the couple was, everything was made in the same material. Scala was built in this Nordic tradition of architecture and is covered with teak. So the concept became just to continue these walls and make a landscape of wood, a private Hell in teak, enclosing audience and actors.
